A few pretty amusing tricks and pranks that you can try on random people or even risk with your actual friends

A few tricks and pranks you can do to get people to feel a bit silly (or that may totally bomb and make you look like a Muppet).

1. The “Salt Shaker” on the tongue

This is one of the better known ones this one so it can bomb pretty hard if the person you are doing it to already knows it.

So first step one is to set the scene, tell them you have a pretty good “mind trick” for them to try out.

ProTip: You may get better results by telling them you saw Derren Brown do this last night or that it is a form of hypnotism.

If they are up for it then is time to tell them what to do…

Tell them to imagine that there is a salt shaker on the table. Now ask them to pretend they are picking it up and to tilt their head back with mouth open and tongue extended out.

The final part is getting them to make a pouring/shaking motion onto their tongue and they should be able to taste the salt!

Obviously this doesn’t work and they just end up looking like they are performing a little bit of oral.

Bonus points if you can snap a picture of them doing this.

2. The “What is that on the back/heel of your shoe?”

This one is best performed by a group of people when someone has just walked in the room.

One person goes to the person who has just arrived or walked past “What is that on the back/heel of your shoe?”

When the person goes to look they will naturally be standing in a pretty feminine/homosexual pose and it is now the group’s job to let them know with a bombardment of “wooooooos” and the odd “Hello Sailor”.

Again bonus points to anyone who gets a snap of a mate in this pose.

This was actually popularised in the UK by a TV ad for WKD (which is ironically one of the more homosexual drinks) that actually ended up being banned by the ITC. So this may go down better in some places than others.

3. The always slightly pervy “can you touch your elbows behind your back”

This one will only work on girls (or your more portly male friends). The question you need to ask them is “can you touch your elbows together behind your back?”.

If they buy into it and haven’t heard it before they will start trying to do it, now most people can’t do this but in trying they will make their lady lumps stick out a lot… all for your viewing pleasure.

Word of warning with this one it is pretty possible you will look like a deviant trying this one… especially if anything pops out.

(Even more bonus points should be awarded if you manage a snap of this and double your points if you manage to send us the pictures. Aka “PICS PLZ”.)

4.The very vintage “coin on the head”

This is the old and maybe a little too well known coin on the head trick, as seen on the show Red Dwarf.

The idea is to get someone to see how long they can keep a coin on their forehead while tapping the back of their head.

First of all you want to give them a quick demo of you doing it, so stick the coin to the middle of your forehead and tap the back of your head a few times before letting it fall off and then challenge them to beat it.

This is where the subterfuge begins.

Instead of letting them put the coin on their own head, you do it for them. Push quite hard then remove the coin (obviously they don’t see you remove it). It will feel like the coin is still on their head and they will begin tapping the back of their head.

Now depending on how sharp your friend is and how long you can string them along this could go on for some time!
